Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
This book is going to be a book of mystery, Daniel, because noone is going to understand it until ‘the time of the end’. But men of every generation are going to turn back and forth in its pages because they think they are the last generation and want to prove it by expressing that all the prophecies of Daniel have been fulfilled.
The mystery will not be even guessed at properly until all the players are in place and that will be; and here is the key; 'even to the time of the end'. When all the players are in place, then will the knowledge be available to open the book.
The book of Daniel, I believe, is the key to understanding the Bible; especially Bible prophecy. Daniel 8 is the key to the mystery of the book of Daniel.
The first character in Daniel 8 is the Ram. If you look closely you will notice that this ancient breed has more than two horns. This would have been a breed that Daniel was aware of and would not have been hesitant of using as an example in his narative of his vision. This picture of a ram of four or more horns is how the vision is presented in the ancient Bible text.
This descrepancy with translations, as well as other facts, are why this site has been published. I believe that when these differences are presented that the real picture of Daniel and indeed the whole Bible will be seen in new light.
Since the beginning, man has looked forward to being rescued from this life that began as paradise and quickly turned into at least something less, or what many believe is slavery to a lifestyle that they don't want. The Bible states that as soon as paradise ended, God began prophesying a plan to ransom humankind and the eventual restoration of the paradise that was before Adam sold his birthrite.
As a family, we have been impatient for prophecy to be fulfilled. Eve hoped that each of her sons was the Messiah that would be sent to ransom the human race. As soon as the Messiah returned to Heaven, people began to expect the second coming was imminent. Also, before prophecy is fulfilled, our vision of what it will be has always been different than what it turned out to be. Before the Messiah, the rabbis taught that the first coming would be in Glory and Power. Many knew what the prophesies said, but their beliefs could not get traction because of the power of the teachers.
After the first advent, the process began all over again, the disciples believed, at least for a time, that the Second Coming would occur during their lifetime, but soon realized that there were too many prophetic events to be fulfilled for that to happen. Each subsequent generation has surveyed history to see if it was possible that they were the last generation and that end time prophesies belonged to their generation. After a few generations, there was enough 'history' that in some eyes, it could be constructed that end time prophecy had been fulfilled and they were indeed looking for the imminent Second Coming.
At times they were so certain that they had the correct interpretation of prophecy, that they 'changed' a few words in their Bible so that it would be easier for the common people to read and understand. This has happened in enough generations that today we have many different 'interpretations' of religious creed and so called Spirit of Prohecy and even some religions void of Godhead altogether.
Still at some point in history, if God is to be believed, the end time prophesies will start to make sense to those who are paying attention and studying to know the truth. I think you and I are the last generation that the Bible prophecies are pointing toward. I also think that if one is studying, that the original words can be found that will lead to the original meaning of the prophecies. To that end, I present my understanding of a literal reading of the end time prophecies for our generation, the final generation.
While a correct understanding of the prophecies of the end of time are not necessarily needed for salvation, the understanding of them may give us a better picture of who God is, the purpose that He has for us, the 'time' in which we are living and the amount of time remaining until the second advent of Jesus Christ.
